Saint-Estèphe – Como Castle 2019
Grape varieties: 60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon
(proportions may vary slightly depending on the vintage)
Features :
This 2019 Saint-Estèphe from Château de Côme impresses with its deep, purple-tinged color. The nose is both straightforward and refined, marked by aromas of black cherry, wild blackberry, graphite, and a hint of black pepper. On the palate, the attack is supple, then the appellation's typical structure asserts itself with fine but firm, well-coated tannins. Barrel aging brings well-melted woody notes (vanilla, blond tobacco) that support the generous fruit. A long, precise, and fresh finish.
Food and Wine Pairings:
Perfect with grilled rib-eye steak, herby roast beef, leg of lamb, or a lentil dish with duck confit. It also pairs well with strong cheeses like mature Comté or Salers. Decant one hour before serving, between 17 and 18°C.
The Estate:
Château de Côme is one of the few Saint-Estèphe Crus Bourgeois certified organic. This 7-hectare estate, nestled on the gravelly hillsides of the Médoc, is managed with precision by Maurice Velge. Work in the vineyards is meticulous and environmentally friendly, and vinification is carried out plot by plot to best express the character of each terroir. An authentic Saint-Estèphe, combining power and elegance.
