Côte-Rôtie – Côte Rozier – Domaine Guy Bernard 2021
Grape variety: 100% Syrah
Characteristics: The Côte-Rôtie Côte Rozier from Domaine Guy Bernard is distinguished by its deep purple color with violet highlights. The nose is intense and refined, revealing aromas of ripe black fruit, crushed strawberry, blackcurrant, and licorice, accompanied by subtle hints of sweet spices and toasted wood. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, deep, and silky, supported by fine tannins and a lovely freshness. Aging for 22 months in oak barrels (25% new) brings complexity, balance, and length, with a persistent finish of spices and jammy fruit.
Food and Wine Pairing: This wine pairs perfectly with grilled ribeye steak, roast duck breast, game, or aged cheeses. Serve between 16 and 18°C after a light aeration or decanting.
The Estate: Domaine Guy Bernard is a family-run winery located in Tupin-et-Semons, in the heart of the Côte-Rôtie appellation. Founded by Max Pouzier, the grandfather of the current winemaker, the estate cultivates vines over 60 years old on mica schist soils, typical of the region. Since 2017, the property has been committed to converting to organic farming and produces wines of great precision, combining tradition and respect for the terroir.
